Why travel?

This weeks post is going to focus on travelling. Why to travel and the benefits of travelling. If you have already caught the travel bug you’ll be nodding your head in agreement with me and if not, go catch it!! I’m telling you it is probably definitely the only bug you’ll want to catch.

There are endless benefits to travelling one of which is just being able to see new places and experience different cultures and ways of life. Here’s just three of may reasons why travelling is a great idea.

One: meet new people. I know that whenever I go to a different country I meet at least one new person (most of the time it is a lot more). The people you meet are always so weird and wonderful, a lot of them will have great stories to tell and have really interesting insights. There are two types of people you will meet while travelling; the locals and the people who are also on their travels. The locals are great for getting an insight to the countries culture. They also know all the best spots for food, draaanks, sightseeing. Then there are the fellow travellers. These people are also great as they’re on the same page as you, looking to discover new things, new experiences and have a good time.

Two: Eye opening experiences. You will probably have eye opening experiences no matter where you travel just because you’re discovering the different culture and way of life. However, some countries provide more eye opening experiences than others. Personally, the biggest eye-opener for me was when I went to South-East Asia in particular Cambodia. Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in Asia with the majority of the population living on a just over a dollar a day which is why it was such a culture shock. Going to Cambodia made me aware of the extreme poverty some people live in and really made me appreciate how lucky I am to live in a developed country.

Three: An Adventure. No matter where you go, once you’re travelling it will always be an adventure and who doesn’t love an adventure? Travelling will always provide you with stories to tell, you will learn lifelong lessons and have one hell of an adventure.

Live life for you

Hey Guys,

I’m Megan and I am going to be writing a weekly column on Emma’s blog. This weeks post is about living your life for you. It’s deep, meaningful, inspirational and all that good stuff. I hope it leaves you feeling like you can conquer the world. Enjoy x

“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—. I took the one less traveled”

It is human nature to want to be liked and many people believe (especially at a young age) that in order to be liked you must fit in. As a result of wanting to fit in, one may put off something they want to do or suppress true feelings in fear of being judged. I know that in my case, I put off starting a blog for almost two years just because I was afraid of what other people would think. It sounds crazy that other people’s opinions stopped me from doing what I love (which is writing) for two years, yet the only one suffering was myself. What’s even crazier is some people put it off for ten years, fifty years even their WHOLE LIFE. So I started the blog and guess what? It wasn’t that scary and as for the opinions? all positive (so far). I am so glad I did it and to be honest I wish I would have done it sooner. At the end of the day, you only have one life and you are doing yourself no favours if you’re living it trying to please everyone else. Put yourself first, don’t look for approval and be your own damn cheerleader ! From the wise words of my momma, ‘people that mind don’t matter and people that matter don’t mind’. So I’ll leave you with a few tips to get you started on how to do your own thang.

Step One: Just start. Whatever it is that makes you happy, whatever it is you have been putting off you just NEED TO START. It is incredibly easy to make excuses and to convince yourself that those excuse are valid. They’re not. There’s never going to be a perfect time to start and when you do start it probably won’t be perfect either but thats okay its a process. All that matters is that you started.

Step Two: Everything you do, do it with confidence. Stop doubting yourself, even if you have literally no idea what you’re doing (most people don’t) just wing it. Life, eyeliner, everything. Take a leaf out of Kanye’s book and roll with it.

Step Three: STOP CARING ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK. This is probably the most important one. I cannot stress it enough that the key to living your life for you is literally not giving a second thought to other peoples negative opinions. At the end of the day everyone is going to have an opinion no matter what you do so you may as well do you. Filter out all the negative opinions and let the positive ones inspire you to keep going.

That’s all from me this week. Make sure to check out my latest post over on my blog here about becoming happier. xoxo

The pressures of being an influencer

My Interview with, speaking about ‘the pressures of being an influencer’. I open up about how I started blogging without knowing it would become more than a hobby, How blogging made me a confident person and how it taught me to stop caring what people think! I also express my opinion on #Sp content

Influencer.  It seems to be the term of the moment.

This single word is usually always followed by the same question; what the hell is an influencer?

To put it simply, an influencer is a social media user who has an influence over a large number of followers.

There are fashion influencers, beauty influencers, fitness influencers, and so on.  You name it, someone is trying to influence it.

These influencers are often sponsored by large companies to promote their products to followers.  Some of Ireland’s most successful influencers include Suzanne Jackson (So Sue Me), Pippa O’Connor Ormond, and Rob Lipsett.

Emma Doyle is a 21 year old fashion design student from Dublin who is trying to make her mark as a social media influencer in a saturated market.

Face Masks I’m LOVING

Anyone who knows me knows I have such dry, dehydrated skin. So, this mask is exactly what my skin needed! Left my skin feeling so smooth and hydrated. It also reduced wrinkles which is obviously a huge plus! Gotta stop this ageing thing ASAP.               Leaves skin feeling so fresh also.

Buy it here.

I luckily don’t suffer from breakouts often but the one things I’m self conscious of when it comes to my skin is my blackheads. This charcoal mask completely detoxes your skin, it cleanses pores and blackheads in just 10 mins!

You can literally feel it working as it starts to foam when you put it on your face.  However, you do look like a transformer while wearing it but it’s only for 10 minutes I promise!

Buy it here.

Both face masks are from Beauty along with lots of other beauty products!
