I’m Megan and I am going to be writing a weekly column on Emma’s blog. This weeks post is about living your life for you. It’s deep, meaningful, inspirational and all that good stuff. I hope it leaves you feeling like you can conquer the world. Enjoy x
“Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—. I took the one less traveled”
It is human nature to want to be liked and many people believe (especially at a young age) that in order to be liked you must fit in. As a result of wanting to fit in, one may put off something they want to do or suppress true feelings in fear of being judged. I know that in my case, I put off starting a blog for almost two years just because I was afraid of what other people would think. It sounds crazy that other people’s opinions stopped me from doing what I love (which is writing) for two years, yet the only one suffering was myself. What’s even crazier is some people put it off for ten years, fifty years even their WHOLE LIFE. So I started the blog and guess what? It wasn’t that scary and as for the opinions? all positive (so far). I am so glad I did it and to be honest I wish I would have done it sooner. At the end of the day, you only have one life and you are doing yourself no favours if you’re living it trying to please everyone else. Put yourself first, don’t look for approval and be your own damn cheerleader ! From the wise words of my momma, ‘people that mind don’t matter and people that matter don’t mind’. So I’ll leave you with a few tips to get you started on how to do your own thang.
Step One: Just start. Whatever it is that makes you happy, whatever it is you have been putting off you just NEED TO START. It is incredibly easy to make excuses and to convince yourself that those excuse are valid. They’re not. There’s never going to be a perfect time to start and when you do start it probably won’t be perfect either but thats okay its a process. All that matters is that you started.
Step Two: Everything you do, do it with confidence. Stop doubting yourself, even if you have literally no idea what you’re doing (most people don’t) just wing it. Life, eyeliner, everything. Take a leaf out of Kanye’s book and roll with it.
Step Three: STOP CARING ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE THINK. This is probably the most important one. I cannot stress it enough that the key to living your life for you is literally not giving a second thought to other peoples negative opinions. At the end of the day everyone is going to have an opinion no matter what you do so you may as well do you. Filter out all the negative opinions and let the positive ones inspire you to keep going.
That’s all from me this week. Make sure to check out my latest post over on my blog here about becoming happier. xoxo

My Common Goods is a unisex street clothing brand. Their clothing is mainly tracksuits, t-shirts and accessories such as hats. It’s like the dream, who hasn’t bought their boyfriend a present knowing they were going to wear it themselves? (Imma just borrow that..)
‘MyCommonGoods is not just about what you wear its about how you wear it. We want you to love our creations as much as we do.
Anyone who knows me knows that I am such a tracksuit girl! Unless I have to dress up i’ll always opt for something comfortable. Don’t get me wrong I do love going all out every so often, I seem to go from one extreme to another!
I love this tracksuit so much it’s definitely one of my fave from their website, probably because i’m still khaki obsessed. I just love shape of it it’s so different and the simple common goods logo finishes it off perfectly. obsessed!
